Building a Space Marine Lantern
In Germany we celebrate Martin of Tours and him dividing his coat, as St. Martin including a procession. Children will attend it, carrying a lantern, singing Martin's song and depending on the region will receive a Weckmann or sweet pretzel.
Depending on the time you have on your hand and the age of your cihldren, you either buy a pre-made lantern or build one yourself with them at Kindergarten or School. As this year, my kids build theirs in school and kindergarten, and are old enough to carry their lanterns on their own, I didn't want to go empty handed and build one for myself.
But what should my lantern be? And after thinking about it for a while, I had the idea of building a Space Marine helmet.
WarCry – Gloomspite Gitz Part 3
I've been busy and am doing my best to have the warband painted by the end of the month. Not at least because I want to play a few games with it on the weekend of the Maltreff 2024. As I already knew the setup of my warband, it was just a matter of dividing it up into easy-to-paint chunks. I always find it difficult to paint several minis at the same time, as I paint the same colors for too long and quickly get bored. This is particularly the case with large models.
So I started with an easier task, the archers. I built one from the regiment box and the other from the Zarbag's Gitz box. I will paint this Underworlds warband completely at some point, as the models are really nice.
Blood Bowl – Chaos Dwarf Pitch and Dugouts
I occasionally mention that in a previous life I once stood at a printing machine and produced print products. Accordingly, I know my way around the industry and have a certain fable for fine products from the print and packaging industry, such as this neat new Blood Bowl pitch for the recently released Chaos Dwarves.
The product currently costs €44 and comes in a slipcase with two dugouts and the pitch itself. The packaging is tailored to the size of the board and does not contain any foam padding around the edges, like the Old World Alliance/Underworld Denizens pitch (third picture).
Age of Sigmar Warcry – Ogor Mawtribes Tyrant
When you have subscribed to the Stormbringer magazine series, there are here and there optional bonus miniatures that you can pick up at a heavy discount. For example this Ogor Mawtribes Tyrant.
This came a bit as a surprise, for two reasons. For one you have to opt out if you don't want to receive this model, but as it was a third of the regular RRP, I could live with that and I wasn't aware that this was a plastic kit, as I thought this model was one of the finecast characters among the Ogor Mawtribe range.
October 2024 review
While it is spooky season, I enjoyed my first vacation since may, when we went to Scotland. We stayed in Germany and went for a prolonged weekend towards the south western part, Trier and the surrounding Eifel.
We went for a bit of sight seeing and lots of animals close up, at our stops at the Porta Nigra and the Wildlife Park Daun.
A visit to … X-Comics Trier
During our family holiday to Trier I visited a local gaming store in the inner city. It is a branch of the X-Comics stores, the former SpielBar.
As a local gaming store, it covers merch, comics, trading cards, board games and quite a few tabletop products, as you could see behind the second counter.
Blood Bowl – Chaos Dwarf Star Players
With the release of the Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl Team of the Zharr-Naggrund Ziggurats, we get three resin kits as well covering Star Players and positionals. And a lot of love went into this update.
As of today, all of these are updates of the existing vintage positionals and players. And we would like to begin with H'thark the Unstoppable.
The Star Player comes in a massiv blister and costs 40 EUR. H'thark is the largest of all Bull Centaurs and is quite towering on his 40mm round base.
Blood Bowl – Chaos Dwarf The Zharr-Naggrund Ziggurats
On NOVA this year Games Workshop gave us the preview on an updated Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl Team, the Zharr-Naggrund Ziggurats, and we were more than excited to see them again!
Chaos Dwarfs have been part of Blood Bowl since the 90s, and this team, the Ziggurats, was around back then, as part of the Death Zone supplement for Blood Bowls third edition, both released in 1994. The new Zharr-Naggrund Ziggurats arrived quickly, with the announcement in August and a full on release in October 2024. And this large batch of miniatures is something, that we want to take a closer look upon starting today with the regular team boxed set.
